About this deal

However... like my roksan.... you are very very much reliant on your source here.. that roksan will not sugar coat anything. if you have a bright source.. it will sound it.. if you have a bass heavy source.. it will sound it.. It is a brutally revealing amp so any notion of getting this amp must 100% be done by listening to it first with the same source as you have on the oberons.. and (then .. changing the source to others.. so you can hear how revealing it is) However.. get the right source and you will be blown away and end up sitting there with that all telling grin When I finally sat down and listened, no matter what I played through the DALIs, be it house music or Miles Davis, it just sounded good. The diminutive floorstanders play much bigger than you expect, all while maintaining precise control over the complete audioband. The designers behind this product knew what they were doing. For music testing, I started out with Nils Frahm’s album Screws. It’s a solo piano album recorded using a single condenser microphone, and it leaves in every little imperfection you don’t normally hear in a final recording. You can make out the sound of the hammers hitting the strings, errant creeks as the musician’s foot presses and releases the sustain pedal—at least you with a decent pair of speakers or headphones you can. The Oberon 5 had no problem bringing all these details right to the front, delivering a warm, intimate listening experience that felt like a live performance. El mayor tamaño del tweeter permite genera más presión sonora con menos recorrido, mateniendo el movimiento de la bobina de voz en el mínimo necesario. DALI‌ aims to make placement as easy as possible by designing their speakers to create a wide dispersion pattern. Because of this, they recommend no toe-in during setup, unlike other manufacturers.

Most amplifiers won’t have any problems bringing this speaker to life, thanks to its standard 88 dB sensitivity and a 6-ohm nominal impedance. A good-quality amp of 50 W or above will be able to power the Oberon 5 with relative ease. El nuevo tweeter de cúpula ultraligera utilizada en OBERON 5 es fabricada por DALI y ha sido desarrollada específicamente para la serie OBERON - combinando bien las tecnologías de nuestras series DALI con nuevas características. It’s perhaps the first time that I find it so easy to identify what I love about a loudspeaker. With the Dali Oberon 5, what immediately catches the ear is its ability to create a spacious and well-defined soundstage, so wide and immersive that it draws you into the heart of compositions and movies. KEF’s loudspeakers are a celebration of advanced technology and exceptional sound quality, and the budget-friendly Q550 embodies all the characteristics that define KEF’s products. I contend that lots of people have heard sound coming from two speakers, but only some have really heard the stereo effect. Many of you will know what I mean. You visit friends and their speakers are scattered around at odd angles and in odd places and topped with ashtrays or cup holders. There is no attention paid to equidistant spacing and on axis sound, and usually decor issues reign supreme.DALI Oberon 5 has a Bass Reflex type cabinet and a MDF/Wood-grain vinyl finish. Bass Reflex type loudspeakers (aka Ported, Vented or Reflex Port) have enclosures that uses a port, hole or vent cut into the cabinet. Ported designs are generally more efficient than the Sealed designs.

With more listening, their sense of BALANCE emerges. There is just no part of the frequency spectrum that gets extra attention. Top to bottom they are as smooth as a baby’s bottom, and as well articulated as a robotic arm. The midrange is spectacular and the clarity of vocals is surprising. With these babies you will not be reaching for lyric notes as often. If the recording is good, you will get it all. Once again I return to their balance but in another direction – they are both sweet and delicate but also robust. One would think these characteristics are mutually exclusive, but with the DALIs these qualities just seem to be natural partners. While the sub can create quite the rumble with the gain turned up high, it’s best to dial it down for a more subtle response. At sensible levels, it still delivers enough atmosphere and tone. If serious weight is what you need, then you can always upgrade to the Dali E-12F with its 30cm driver. Verdict DALI Oberon 5 comes with the parts below which you can use to secure your loudspeaker on the surface that you are putting on: • 8 Rubber feet

What To Think About

If you have a dealer nearby you can listen to these amps and the oberon (albeit the cambridge will be a challenge given you are in India...) Sometimes only a good floor-standing speaker will do. ‌As much as I‌ love mini-monitors, their sound doesn’t have the scale and weight of a good floorstander. Hello! My first posting here in the forums... I've owned a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 10.1s + NAD 326BEE for several years now, and am looking to upgrade to something with a punchier sound and more detail, but overall I like the fairly neutral tonal quality of my current setup. I also have an SVS SB12NSD subwoofer, which I plan to keep. The system is used 80% for listening to music, and 20% as part of a 5.1 home theater (I have a separate ADCOM amp that drives center and surround speakers, which is fine...)

Prices valid in stores (all including VAT) until close of business on 27th November 2023. (Some of these web prices are cheaper than in-store, so please mention that you've seen these offers online.) As you would expect at this price, the Oberon 5 is a two-way, here with twin 135mm wood fibre-based mid/bass units and a 29mm soft dome tweeter. It has a claimed sensitivity of 88dB and is said to work from 39Hz to 26kHz when measured at +/- 3dB points. The crossover point is 2.4kHz and the bass port is tuned to 43Hz, the company says. With decent sensitivity and a claimed nominal impedance of 6 ohms, it shouldn’t be hard to drive for most amplifiers; DALI recommends 30W to 150W. Have you, at some point in the last two weeks, disconnected then reconnected the speakers? Just wondering if you may have inadvertently reconnected them out of phase. Other than that, I imagine it's either down to mood or a fault has developed somewhere in the setup. The oversized 29 mm membrane is constructed based on an ultra-light wave weave fabric and is additionally optimised for a larger bandwidth in its lower frequency area. This ensures the optimal handover from the midrange woofer to the tweeter, creating a well-balanced, unforced and very coherent upper midrange. Compared to most soft dome tweeters in the market, the DALI dome material is less than half the weight (0.060 mg/mm2). The Oberon 5 has a pair of 13cm mid / deep speakers and a larger than usual 29mm soft dome tweeter. According to Dali, this is more efficient and requires less movement to a given sound pressure level – thus reducing distortion in the sound coil. It has ferrofluid cooling and comes with a membrane made of ultra light woven fabric. For mid / subwoofers, the brand-specific wood fiber / fine-grained pulp cone is used, which is said to provide high rigidity and low resonance. Design engineers have further improved the drive and suspension to optimise detail, clarity and dynamics. The three drive units are connected via a single-wire bidirectional crossover, resulting in a sensitivity of 88 dB / W / m and a nominal impedance of 6 ohms.Listening to Emliana Torrini’s largely acoustic album “Fisherman’s Woman” was a pleasure. Her vocals jumped effortlessly out of the recording and sat right at the front of the soundstage. The guitar aired a little more on the bright side than the warm side, as it did with other speakers, but for this particular album it worked very well. The other thing that stands regardless of color choice is the large metal base. Aesthetically I think it looks great and almost looks like the speaker is floating above a metal platform when caught at the right angle. The speaker is anchored at 4 points where the base is a square fencing design. Now the aesthetics aside I don’t think this was the right thing to do. Nominal Impedance of 6 Ohms makes the DALI Oberon 5 a relatively difficult to drive speaker compared to more frequently found 8 ohms speakers from nominal Impedance perspective. Thank you for your valuable inputs .. I tend to agree on both points 1) that the Oberon 5 is producing a tight , clean and accurate bass as against my Dali Zensor 3 which doesn't produce as much clean but probably expansive bass and 2) the Marantz 7005 with roughly 65 Watts in 6 Ohms is probably not enough to drive the Oberon 5 ... One difference that should again be noted is that Z3 uses a 7 inch driver where as Oberon 5 uses two 5.5 inch drivers .. according to me , this alone might make a sizeable difference ..( I dont know ) The Oberon has 5 classic bass reflex designs with a rear-opening port. Its claimed sensitivity is between 88 dB, 39 Hz and 26 kHz. According to the manufacturer, the crossing point is tuned to 2.4 kHz and the bass sport is tuned to 43 Hz. With adequate sensitivity and a nominal impedance of 6 ohms, it is not difficult for most amplifiers to drive the Oberon 5 speakers, the manufacturer recommends a power between 30W and 150W.
